Meat factory Ear Worms

Image
Meat factory earworms was a documentary about a man trapped working in a meat factory we watched in class, which focuses on audio. The audio contained sounds of knives being sharpened which made me feel very uncomfortable and un eased with the sound being clear, as if it was being done right next to my ear and other sounds which you would hear in a meat factory such as the cries from the animals being slaughtered which was heart breaking to hear. The documentary’s purpose is to make the audience sympathise for the animals and the man who works there which it successfully does for me. It implies that music is what keeps the man going which was illustrated through the repetitive music being played despite having to go through hearing the animal’s cries. It drowns the sounds from the meat factory out. The sounds used in the documentary was very powerful and intense to get the message across about the horrors in a meat factory through using unsettling and concentrated sounds such as knive...

Overall Evaluation

During this module I have improved dramatically in different skills, especially team work. The documentary film was easily approachable because we got given the choice to base it on anything we wanted within reason. This gave us free will and enabled us to explore our creativity coming up with numerous ideas. For this task we chose to focus our documentary on the Abbeydale Picture House which is an iconic building based on Abbeydale Road, Sheffield. My confidence skills have improved overall from working with many new people, especially interviewing some of the volunteers face to face as I find talking to new people very nerve-wracking but after doing this I have found it easier to interact with new people. My team working skill has also improved as filming projects ...

Drama Evaluation

Our drama film was based around a mother who has gone through domestic abuse and is now suffering from PTSD. We wanted to display her traumatic experience by using flashbacks both visual and audio such as at the beginning of the film where there’s a shot of the door with a shadowy figure standing there and moves away. This straight away encourages intrigue from the audience, making them want to know who exactly this person is and what they look like. Cool blue colour grading has been used one some parts of the scene where the actress is seen to clearly illustrate the mood she has as blue has a negative connotation of sadness. We initially struggled on getting an actress to play the mother, but this was quickly resolved because we were lucky enough to have my flat mate play as the mother as she looked mature enough to play her. Our teamwork has been great especially equipment wise. A lot of equipment had to be booked out and we equally distributed them all carrying it to the location ...
